Electrocentrale București (ELCEN) announced that CET Grozăvești has resumed electricity production by activating the cogeneration group, contributing approximately 30 MW to the stability of the National Energy System in the context of the energy crisis. Until now, CET Grozăvești has only operated for the production of thermal energy, providing hot domestic water.

ELCEN emphasizes the importance of high-efficiency cogeneration for maintaining the balance of the national grid. Additionally, CET Grozăvești will continue to supply thermal energy for Bucharest, delivering approximately 40 Gcal for hot water. ELCEN is also preparing to restart CET Progresu, scheduled for mid-August, to enhance the flexibility and security of thermal energy supply.

Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan declared a national state of alert due to the decrease in electricity production, calling for voluntary savings during peak hours.
