The President of the Timiș County Council, Alfred Simonis, announced the expropriation of the former protocol villa of Nicolae Ceaușescu, which has been left in disrepair for over 20 years. The decision was made after the dissolution of the association with businessman Ovidiu Tender, who owned 55% of the shares.
Simonis emphasized that the property will be transformed into a cultural and artistic hub, and the restoration works will be put out to tender next year. The villa, declared a historical monument, has hosted prominent personalities but has been neglected in recent years. The expropriation was carried out for 500,000 euros, and the Timiș County Council aims to recover the county's heritage.
