In the town of Cavnic, Maramureș County, the Local Council has decided to ban funeral wreaths made of artificial materials due to the high costs of collecting and disposing of them.

The measure, in effect since September 1, encourages the use of natural flowers, considered more environmentally friendly and easier to manage. The decision has sparked controversy, with some locals believing it limits funeral traditions, while others see it as a beneficial initiative.
