Cherecheș was brought under escort from Germany to serve his 5-year prison sentence for bribery. He has been on hunger strike since his arrival at Arad Penitentiary and is now in Rahova, where he has been quarantined. Justice Minister Alina Gorghiu said that Cherecheș will be moved to Aiud Penitentiary after the quarantine period.
