Călin Georgescu, former candidate in the presidential elections, appeared at the police station in Buftea to sign the judicial control measure, one day before the judges' verdict. In a statement, he addressed a message to Romanians at home and abroad, emphasizing the importance of the fundamental values of the nation. Georgescu criticized the neoliberal economic model, stating that Romania is facing not only a recession but an economic disaster resulting from irresponsible policies.
He advocated for a return to an economic model based on production and productive work, highlighting the necessity to ensure food, water, and energy for the population. Georgescu emphasized that Romania's economic independence depends on its ability to produce and finance itself, urging a return to traditional values: God, homeland, family, and honor.
