A Bulgarian driver is under criminal investigation after trying to enter Romania with 14,800 cigarettes hidden under the floor of a trailer.

The 24-year-old driver was stopped at the Giurgiu-Ruse Border Crossing Point, where Romanian and Bulgarian border guards discovered the cigarettes hidden among his personal luggage and under the floor of the trailer. The quantity of cigarettes was estimated at 20,720 lei and was seized by the officers. A criminal file has been opened and the driver is charged with possession of smuggled excise goods.
