The National Meteorological Administration has issued an orange code warning for the municipality of Bucharest and Ilfov County, valid from Wednesday, August 5, at 10:00 AM, until Thursday, August 6, at 10:00 AM. Meteorologists forecast a persistent heat wave, with maximum temperatures between 35 and 38 degrees Celsius and significant thermal discomfort, with the temperature-humidity index (THI) expected to exceed 80 units. Nights will be tropical, with minimum temperatures between 20 and 24 degrees.
Additionally, Maramureș, Satu Mare, Sălaj, Bihor, Arad, Timiș, and Caraș-Severin will enter a red code heat warning on Wednesday at 10:00 AM.
ISU Bucharest-Ilfov recommends wearing loose and light-colored clothing, consuming 1.5-2 liters of liquids per day, avoiding caffeinated and sugary drinks, as well as alcohol, to prevent dehydration. These measures are essential to cope with the heat wave and protect the health of the population.
