The uRADMonitor network sensors have recorded alarming values of fine particles PM2.5, reaching up to 400 µg/m³, 16 times above the recommended limit by WHO. The highest concentrations were observed in the south of the Capital, in the Berceni neighborhood, where one sensor indicated 409.5 µg/m³, a value usually associated with industrial accidents. Pollution persisted for over two hours, dropping below the alert threshold only around 04:00.
Areas in the north of Bucharest were also affected, with values of 195 µg/m³ in the 1 Mai and Domenii neighborhoods. This pollution episode contrasts with the situation on December 29, 2025, when values were comparable to mountain air. The PM2.5 particles generated by fireworks contain heavy metals and harmful compounds, having a negative impact on respiratory health.
