At the Albița Border Crossing, border police discovered four gold bars, each weighing 100 grams, on a 51-year-old British citizen who did not declare them at customs control.
The man, a passenger on a bus route from Chișinău to Cluj, was subjected to a thorough inspection, according to the Agreement between the Government of Romania and the Government of the Republic of Moldova. The bars, with an estimated value of 278,000 lei, were retained for expertise, and the British citizen was fined 20,000 lei for failing to declare the goods.
