The booking site Booking.com suffered a cyber attack, during which 'unauthorized parties' gained access to the names, account data, and booking details of some users, according to The Guardian.

The Amsterdam-based company stated that it observed suspicious activity and took measures to limit the issue, including updating the PIN code for bookings and informing affected guests.

Although the number of affected individuals has not been disclosed, Booking.com assured that financial information was not compromised. Customers were warned that hackers may have accessed details such as names, email addresses, physical addresses, and phone numbers associated with previous bookings.

This is not the first time Booking.com has faced cyber attacks, considering that in the past it has been the victim of online scams and phishing tactics. In 2018, a similar incident led to the compromise of data for over 4,000 users. Booking.com reported the incident to Dutch authorities with a 22-day delay, which resulted in a fine of 475,000 euros.
