BNS announced the referral to the European Commission, the European Public Prosecutor's Office, and the European Court of Auditors to verify compliance with European legislation in the implementation of the SAFE program in Romania.

Representatives of the National Trade Union Bloc (BNS) have notified several European institutions, including the European Commission and the European Public Prosecutor's Office, to verify how Romania is implementing the Security Action for Europe (SAFE) program. BNS requests that the program be implemented in accordance with European standards, without blocking or delaying it, considering its importance for national and European security.

Trade unionists emphasized that the notification is based on information from the public domain, indicating suspicions of irregularities in procurement procedures and the use of funds. The reported issues include a lack of transparency, excessive use of negotiations without prior publication, and the concentration of contracts towards a single industrial group.

BNS calls for verification of the compliance of the investment plan and procurement procedures with European legislation, as well as an analysis of possible financial irregularities.

BNS's initiative aims to protect the public interest and the rights of its 300,000 members, affected by improper implementation of the SAFE program.
