The National Bank of Romania (BNR) will launch on May 28, 2026, a series of coins dedicated to gymnast Nadia Comăneci, marking 50 years since she achieved the first score of 10 in the history of the Olympic Games in women's gymnastics.
The issue will include a gold coin with a nominal value of 100 lei, a silver coin of 10 lei, and a bronze-plated tombac coin of 1 leu. The obverse of each coin features Nadia Comăneci at the end of her routine, while the common reverse illustrates the iconic moment from Montreal 1976. The mintage is limited to 200 gold coins, 1,000 silver coins, and 2,000 bronze-plated tombac coins. The selling prices are 7,800 lei for the gold coin, 1,000 lei for the silver coin, and 280 lei for the bronze-plated tombac coin, all including VAT.
The coins will be available through the regional branches of BNR and have legal tender status in Romania.
