The Italian arms manufacturer, Beretta, has begun negotiations for the complete transfer of technology to Romania, officially responding to the Request for Information (RFI) issued by the SAFE working group, led by the head of the Prime Minister's Chancellery. The company proposes the complete manufacturing in Romania of the NARP 5.56 assault rifle, the APX 9x19 semi-automatic pistol, and the 40mm grenade launcher, also offering partial local production for sniper rifles and machine guns.
Beretta emphasizes the importance of a comprehensive technology transfer program to support the integration of manufacturing processes in Romania and to contribute to strengthening local industrial capabilities. The initiative aims to increase operational independence in defense production and stimulate collaboration with domestic partners. Beretta is open to discussions with Romanian authorities to detail the implementation plan, in accordance with the national defense strategy.
