The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has announced the completion of the sale of Danube Logistics, the operator of the Giurgiulești port, to the National Company Maritime Ports Administration SA Constanța. This transaction, which underscores the strategic partnership between Romania and the Republic of Moldova, will support economic and trade links. The Giurgiulești port, handling over 70% of Moldova's waterborne trade, plays a crucial role in the country's economic stability.

The Constanța port intends to invest significantly in the development of Giurgiulești, expanding capacity and improving infrastructure. This acquisition is seen as an important step for Moldova's integration into regional trade networks. Since acquiring Danube Logistics in 2021, EBRD has contributed to the growth of the port, and under the leadership of Constanța port, continuous development is expected. The Giurgiulești port, strategically located on the Danube, will continue to play an essential role in Moldova's trade and in the reconstruction of Ukraine.
