Former president Traian Băsescu avoided giving a direct answer regarding Romania's ability to withstand a possible aggression from Russia for 72 hours, suggesting that it is better to ask a general.

In the context of the Special Edition on TVR Info, Băsescu acknowledged that Romania does not have the necessary equipment to cope with such a situation. He also highlighted a major issue related to the Supreme Council of National Defense (CSAT), mentioning that its opinion on the government budget is essential but has been ignored in the past. Băsescu emphasized the need to find a solution to make the CSAT's opinion mandatory, so that financial allocations for defense are adequate.
