The mountain rescue team has issued a warning regarding the significant risk of avalanches in the Bucegi Mountains, Făgăraș, and Parâng-Șureanu, due to recent snowfall at altitudes above 1,800 meters, where a fresh snow layer of 20-30 cm has accumulated, and in some areas even over 40 cm. In the upper part of the massifs, there is a layer of snow with low stability, which can cause medium or large avalanches, especially under conditions of overload from tourists or skiers. The avalanche risk is assessed at level 3, and snow flows may occur at altitudes of 1,800-2,000 meters, in the context of daytime temperatures close to 0 degrees. At altitudes below 1,800 meters, the snow layer is smaller, and weak mixed precipitation is expected.
