Associations advocating for the rights of the LGBTQ+ community emphasize the importance of implementing the ECHR decisions from 2023 and CJEU from 2025, which obligate Romania to recognize marriages between persons of the same sex. Following Sorin Grindeanu's statements, the president of the Chamber of Deputies, who acknowledged the necessity of applying these rulings, NGOs are calling for the urgent adoption of legislation regarding civil partnerships.

The draft laws Pl-x 152/2019 and Pl-x 153/2019, blocked in Parliament for years, would provide a legal framework for all unmarried couples. Grindeanu stated that he does not understand why these decisions are not being applied, emphasizing that every person should have equal rights, regardless of sexual orientation. The MozaiQ Association is requesting a favorable opinion from the Legal Committee to send the proposals to the plenary of the Chamber.
