DIICOT announced on Saturday that the judges of the Bucharest Court of Appeal have accepted the prosecutors' proposal to arrest five individuals involved in a criminal group from Brăila, active since 2021.
The group, coordinated by a 50-year-old man, is accused of multiple violent crimes, including four attempted murders. Following the searches conducted on July 16, 2026, 12 cars, boats, sums of money, and weapons were discovered. Group members used violence to maintain control over the victims and offered illegal loans, charging exorbitant interest rates.
Additionally, two members used the "loverboy" method to persuade two victims to engage in prostitution abroad. The collected evidence suggests a complex network of crimes, including money laundering and witness tampering.
