A team of archaeologists has discovered a tomb approximately 5,000 years old on the site of the overpass being constructed in Băicoi, at the intersection of national road DN 1 and county road DJ 215.

Mayor Marius Constantin announced that the works have begun with the archaeological excavation of the existing tumulus, carried out by specialists from the Ploieşti Archaeology Museum. Dr. Alin Frînculeasa, a researcher at the Prahova County Museum of History and Archaeology, explained that the area contains two tumuli, one having a height of approximately four meters.

In the first phase of the excavations, a Bronze Age tomb was found, belonging to a massive man who wore an earring. The archaeological excavation works will last approximately eight weeks, and the project is funded through the "Anghel Saligny" Program.

This discovery offers new perspectives on human communities in the northern area of Ploieşti.
