Aramis Invest, the largest furniture manufacturer in Romania, has decided to reduce salaries by 30% for several hundred employees in the TESA staff.

Aramis Invest, the company from Baia Mare that produces furniture exclusively for Ikea, has announced a 30% salary reduction for several hundred employees from the TESA staff, according to consultant Doru Șupeală. This measure affects office employees, including those in the finance, accounting, operational, and engineering departments, who have higher salaries than production workers. The decision comes against the backdrop of difficulties faced by the Romanian furniture industry, recalling the recent bankruptcy of the company Taparo, which led to the loss of thousands of jobs. In February, Aramis implemented a reduced work program of four days a week, which resulted in a decrease in activity and salaries by approximately 20%. This situation raises questions about the sustainability of the business model of Romanian factories that depend on international clients, having a low added value.
