The Association of Prosumers and Energy Communities of Romania (APCE) recommends that prosumers retain surplus energy produced by installing and using battery storage systems, instead of automatically supplying it to providers.
The organization maintains that excess energy should be used for self-consumption whenever possible. In this way, prosumers can make more efficient use of their own production and reduce the amount of energy delivered to the grid.
APCE’s request represents a change in approach from the practice of automatically transferring surplus energy to the provider. According to the association, storage makes it possible to retain energy produced at a given time and use it later, when consumption is higher or the installation is no longer generating enough electricity.
The recommendation is addressed to prosumers, meaning individuals or entities that produce energy, particularly from renewable sources, and consume the energy produced, while being able to deliver to the grid what they do not use. APCE advocates maximum self-consumption and the use of batteries as a solution for managing energy surpluses.
