An anti-fraud inspector from Bucharest, Nistor Constantin, was caught in the act by DNA prosecutors while receiving 3,000 lei from the administrator of a company, C.A.S., to limit a tax audit at that company. The inspector requested the money to not continue the checks and to only apply an administrative fine, following the discovery of several irregularities. Prosecutors initiated criminal proceedings and imposed judicial control for 60 days, prohibiting him from exercising his function.

Additionally, the president of ANAF, Adrian Nica, acknowledged the existence of signals regarding the protection of companies by inspectors, emphasizing the need for stricter monitoring of employees. In the last two years, DNA has brought charges against approximately 70 individuals from ANAF and Customs.
