The National Agency for Fiscal Administration (ANAF), through the General Directorate for Fiscal Anti-Fraud, has initiated a pilot project to control the purchases of luxury cars, after discovering 66 cases where the value of the cars exceeds the declared income. Inspectors found cash payments of hundreds of thousands of lei, without justified fiscal provenance, and seized several cars, including BMWs and Porsches. The controls target individuals who have used undeclared income for high-value purchases, violating tax legislation. Among the identified cases is a BMW paid in cash without supporting documents and a Porsche with unclear sources of funds. ANAF has initiated legal procedures to establish tax obligations and apply contraventional sanctions, instituting seizures on cars to ensure the recovery of owed amounts. ANAF's actions will continue and will expand to other high-risk fiscal transactions.
