Adrian Nica, the head of ANAF, stated on Tuesday in Parliament that the institution aims to combat corruption and improve tax collection, in the context of the reorganization announced by the Ministry of Finance. Nica emphasized that not all ANAF employees are involved in acts of corruption and promised that any inappropriate behavior will be reported.
The collection of VAT has recently increased, and ANAF has met its collection targets. The digitalization of ANAF is a goal for 2027, and the reorganization of the institution aims to improve efficiency without layoffs. Nica mentioned that ANAF will check unjustified wealth, including that of influencers, and promised a report on the results of these checks. He also avoided commenting on political requests related to VAT. ANAF focuses on controls based on risk analysis to improve the efficiency of collection.
