ANAF inspectors identified an unauthorized factory for electronic vaping devices in a warehouse in Prahova, covering an area of approximately 300 square meters. During this operation, raw materials, production equipment, and over 169,000 products were found, with an estimated market value of 16.7 million lei.
The respective company did not have authorization to produce such devices, which are regulated by the Fiscal Code. ANAF also discovered suspicions of tax evasion related to intracommunity deliveries of approximately 3.8 million euros. This discovery was made possible due to a control carried out by ANAF's Anti-Fraud department in collaboration with the tax authorities of another EU member state. The Romanian company had reported significant intracommunity deliveries, although it had not declared such operations in Romania. The company's VAT number had been suspended since November 1, 2025, for failing to meet tax obligations. Inspectors continue their checks to clarify the entire illegal activity and associated tax obligations.
