The judges of the Bucharest Court of Appeal have decided that Alina Bica, the former head of DIICOT, has served her four-year prison sentence in Italy, equating night house arrest with detention in prison. Bica was convicted in 2019 for favoring Ovidiu Tender, but she fled the country and obtained the execution of her sentence in Italy, where she was required to stay at home between 9:00 PM and 7:00 AM. The Romanian judges considered that, according to European legislation, this period can be equated with the actual execution of the sentence.
