The public administrator of the municipality of Bacău and 23 other defendants have been sent to trial by anti-corruption prosecutors for abuse of office and forgery in documents, in connection with the reimbursement of four contracts for the establishment of 13 public bicycle parking lots with RFID systems. The estimated damage is approximately 6.3 million lei. Ciprian Octavian Piște, the public administrator, has been accused of obtaining European funds through false documents, and other officials from the city hall were also involved.
The investigation revealed that, although the parking lots were not fully completed, the invoices were approved for payment, and the delivered equipment did not meet the technical specifications. The reimbursement requests were rejected by the Regional Development Agency, and the Bacău City Hall covered the costs from the local budget. The local council has constituted itself as a civil party for the recovery of damages, and precautionary measures have been imposed on the defendants' assets. The indictment has been sent to the Bacău Tribunal for trial.
