Actor Vlad Marinescu is involved in the pimping case in which DIICOT conducted raids at the strip club 'The Buddhist' in Bucharest. The accused group recruited dozens of young women through online ads, promising them jobs as dancers or hostesses.

The victims, often from disadvantaged backgrounds, were forced to provide sexual services to earn money. DIICOT discovered that the group obtained over 19.5 million lei from the exploitation of the victims, the money being subjected to a 'laundering' process through a foundation and several companies controlled by Vlad Marinescu. He took over the club after the death of his father, Nicolae Marinescu, in 2019.
