Portugal decided on Monday to drastically restrict the digital environment for minors under 16 years old. The proposal, coming from the ruling party, aims to establish the "digital majority" at the age of 16, prohibiting access to social platforms, games, and applications that can create addiction.

This law also stipulates that teenagers aged between 13 and 16 years old cannot access social networks without the consent of their parents and that these platforms must be required to implement a system for age verification and parental authorization compatible with the software used by the Portuguese administration.
