The employee, 49 years old, is an electrician at Metrorex, and worked for 3 days underground after the flood that halted traffic at the Piața Victoriei 2 station. On Sunday evening, she went to the hospital with cold symptoms.

Previously, the Metrorex Union announced that an employee who intervened after the floods last week at the Piața Victoriei 2 station contracted the Legionella bacteria, according to Observator news.

On the other hand, other publications report that it is unclear under what conditions the infection occurred, the Public Health Directorate (DSP) is set to determine whether it will initiate an epidemiological investigation at Metrorex. Legionella develops in water systems and is inhaled in the form of contaminated aerosols. The risk of illness is higher for individuals with underlying diseases, smokers, and the elderly.

Symptoms include fever, chills, headaches, and muscle pain, followed by a dry cough and difficulty breathing. In severe cases, confusion or delirium may occur. Most patients require hospitalization and treatment with antibiotics. Diagnosis is confirmed through laboratory tests, often after returning from travels.
