The Health Committee of the Chamber of Deputies approved 80% reimbursement for adult diapers

The bill providing for 80% reimbursement of adult diapers intended for insured patients was unanimously approved by the Health Committee of the Chamber of Deputies. The initiative will next be put to a plenary vote.

Under the bill, insured patients would receive reimbursement calculated based on the reference price for absorbent products intended for adults. The measure would be granted on the basis of a medical prescription issued by a specialist and would apply both to people with temporary conditions and to those with permanent conditions.

The legislative change aims to support patients who depend on these products and reduce the costs borne by the families caring for them. The reimbursement is not yet applicable, as the bill must be adopted by the plenary and go through the necessary legislative stages.

PSD MP and former Health Minister Alexandru Rafila said the initiative represents an important step for people who use absorbent products for adults. He stressed that access to these products could contribute to greater dignity for patients, reduce the financial pressure on families and improve care.
