A 57-year-old man was found dead in a field in Mureș County, suspected to have been struck by lightning while tending to sheep.

The police officers from the 14th Rural Police Section in Ghindari were alerted regarding the discovery of a man's corpse in a field near an animal farm in Sangeorgiu de Padure, Mureș County.

At the scene, authorities established that the victim is a 57-year-old man from the commune of Atid, Harghita County. Initial information suggests that he may have been struck by lightning while tending to his sheep. The corpse was transported to the Târgu Mureș Institute of Legal Medicine for an autopsy, in order to determine the exact cause of death. The police have opened an investigation for manslaughter, and inquiries are ongoing to clarify the circumstances of the incident.
