The police in Mehedinți caught a driver with 30 kilograms of cocaine in a truck.

The police officers of the Organized Crime Fighting Service in Mehedinți, together with the prosecutors of DIICOT – Mehedinți Territorial Office, carried out a large-scale operation, documenting the criminal activity of a man suspected of drug trafficking. On April 3, 2026, he was caught in the act while transporting approximately 30 kilograms of cocaine, a high-risk drug, hidden in the cabin of his truck. The prohibited substance was packed in 33 bags and stored in two compartments inside the tractor head. Following the arrest, the prosecutors proposed the preventive detention of the man for 30 days, and the operation benefited from the support of judicial authorities from the European Union and the police from Craiova, Timișoara, and Orșova. The investigated person enjoys all rights and procedural guarantees provided by law, including the presumption of innocence.
