25 people have been detained following 43 searches for drug trafficking and the establishment of an organized criminal group

25 people were detained following 43 home searches carried out by police in Caraș-Severin, in collaboration with DIICOT prosecutors, as part of an operation against high-risk drug trafficking and the establishment of an organized criminal group. The searches took place on May 20 and 21, 2026, and as a result, 5.2 kilograms of cannabis, 300 grams of cocaine and 4-CMC, a pistol, 180 lethal cartridges, and considerable sums of money were confiscated.

Of those detained, 13 were proposed for preventive arrest, while the others were placed under judicial control for 60 days. Investigators discovered that, starting from 2021, four criminal groups were formed in Oravița to sell drugs, expanding their distribution network and involving minors in illegal activities. The action was supported by several police and gendarmerie units from the region.
