According to a recent UNICEF report, approximately 1.1 billion children, or nearly half of the children in the world, are simultaneously exposed to at least three climate threats. The most common combinations include drought, extreme heat above 35 degrees Celsius, and heatwaves. Children are more vulnerable to the effects of climate change, having a higher risk of suffering as a result of extreme weather events.

The report assesses children's exposure to eight climate hazards, including floods, sandstorms, and air pollution. Regions such as the Sahel in Africa and countries in Asia, such as Bangladesh and Pakistan, are among the most affected. It is also estimated that 242 million children in 85 countries have experienced disruptions in education due to these risks. UNICEF calls for stronger measures from governments to protect vulnerable children and address these climate threats.
