The American Academy of Arts and Cinematic Sciences has announced that, during the Oscar gala on March 15, 2026, a new award for Best Ensemble will be presented, which will increase the total number of awards to 24. This addition was announced last year, but it has not been confirmed whether it will be included in the official broadcast. The award for ensemble is a first since the introduction of the Best Animated Feature award in 2001. Additionally, the Academy plans to introduce a stunt award in 2028, on the occasion of the 100th edition of the Oscars. Members of the casting department will assist in selecting the finalists, and the list will be announced on December 16, with the final nominations on January 22. The 2026 ceremony will be hosted by Conan O'Brien.
