New Zealand director Peter Jackson explained, at the Cannes International Film Festival, the controversial decision to fire Ryan Gosling from the film 'The Lovely Bones'. Gosling, who was set to play the role of a father of a murdered girl, stated that he had a different vision for the character, wanting him to weigh about 95 kilograms.
Although his firing sparked controversy, Gosling does not hold a grudge against Jackson, acknowledging that he was wrong in interpreting the role. Jackson emphasized that the change of actor is the director's responsibility, not the actor's. Actress Saoirse Ronan, who played the lead role, mentioned that Gosling's departure was sad, but the reasons were valid. Although he was fired, Gosling's career continued to thrive, becoming a successful actor in Hollywood, with roles in popular films such as 'Barbie' and 'Project Hail Mary'.
