Peter Jackson, the New Zealand director, revealed on Wednesday, at the Cannes Festival, that he will make a film adaptation of Tintin's adventures, thus taking over from Steven Spielberg, who directed the animated film "The Adventures of Tintin" in 2011. Jackson explained that the initial agreement stipulated that Spielberg would make one film, and he would make another, but he felt pressure regarding the delay of his project. The director also mentioned that he is working on a new script together with his wife, Fran Walsh, right from his hotel room in Cannes. Jackson, a fan of Tintin's adventures, emphasized the influence of this character created by Hergé in pop culture. In the discussion with the audience, he also addressed the topic of artificial intelligence, considering it a special effect, similar to other techniques used in cinematography, and acknowledged that, although AI could have negative effects, he is not against its use in film.
