At Bookfest, Mircea Cărtărescu presented 'Texistenţa', a volume he considers 'one of his best books'. The author explained that this work is a self-portrait, a collection of aphorisms written over 50 years, which better reflects his true essence than he himself does.
Cărtărescu emphasized that he wanted to be a niche writer, but ended up being popular, which he considers an anomaly. 'Texistenţa' is a combination of text and existence, a cyborg between man and book. The author has gathered texts from various sources, carefully selecting them, and he wants readers to feel special, having access to profound and restricted literature.
Cărtărescu encouraged the audience to read this book as an unusual literary nourishment, mentioning the influences of other great writers. Bookfest, now in its 19th edition, brings together 158 exhibitors and offers 455 cultural events.
