The icon 'Mother of God with the Child', created by Nicolae Grigorescu during his time at the Agapia Monastery, will be auctioned on December 9, with a starting price of 18,000 euros. It has an exceptional documentary-artistic value, being considered an essential work in the evolution of Romanian sacred art, bringing a breath of renewal in religious painting. Art historian Ioana Beldiman emphasizes the importance of this icon in shaping Grigorescu's style. The auction will also include a collection of glass icons from Transylvania, as well as rare and significant works from the 18th-19th centuries. The selection will be able to be admired both at the Cesianu-Racoviță Palace and online, with free entry to the exhibition in the Artmark gallery.
