Eva Schloss, the stepsister of Anne Frank and a survivor of the Auschwitz extermination camp, passed away on January 3, in London, at the age of 96.

Her family expressed deep sorrow, describing her as a "remarkable woman" dedicated to educating about the Holocaust and fighting against prejudice. King Charles III and his wife, Camilla, sent condolences, recalling the privilege of knowing her. Born in Austria in 1929, Eva Schloss fled with her family to Belgium and then to the Netherlands, where she became close to Anne Frank. After being betrayed, Eva and her mother were deported to Auschwitz, where she lost her father and brother. After the war, she moved to London, where she co-founded the Anne Frank UK organization in 1990. Eva wrote several books and was appointed a member of the Order of the British Empire in 2013.
