In October, 2023, Dr. Plasencia illegally offered 20 vials of ketamine to actor Matthew Perry, who was struggling with addiction. Messages obtained by investigators show Plasencia called Perry an "idiot" and discussed the price of the drug. Although Perry had a legal prescription for ketamine, he sought additional sources. Plasencia will plead guilty to four counts of distributing ketamine. The trial of another suspect, Jasveen Sangha, who allegedly sold the lethal dose, will begin next month.
