Born in 1932 in Voghera, Valentino began studying fashion in Paris, working with masters such as Jean Desses and Guy Laroche.

In 1958, he opened a workshop in Rome, and his career exploded in 1962 when he presented a collection at Palazzo Pitti. The Valentino fashion house, co-founded with Giancarlo Giammetti, quickly became a reference name, collaborating with Hollywood stars. Valentino was the artistic director until 2007, and the brand was acquired in 2012 by Mayhoola for Investments.
