The third part of the series "Avatar", titled "Fire and Ash", had remarkable success at the box office, bringing in 64 million dollars on Christmas Day and another 88 million dollars later, totaling 217.7 million dollars in North America and 760 million dollars worldwide after two weekends since its release. Experts estimate that the film will remain in first place until New Year's, considering the success of the previous two films in the series.
During this period, other films such as "Zootopia 2" and "Marty Supreme" also had significant earnings. "Zootopia 2" generated 320 million dollars domestically and 1.42 billion dollars globally, becoming the most profitable Hollywood release of the year. "Marty Supreme" had a promising debut, with 17.4 million dollars over the weekend, being the largest investment of the A24 studio.
Other notable films include the thriller "The Housemaid", which gathered 46.6 million dollars domestically, and "Anaconda", with 14.6 million dollars over the weekend. In total, domestic box office earnings reached 8.76 billion dollars, with an estimate of 8.87 billion dollars by the end of the year. This is the best holiday season in terms of revenue since the beginning of the pandemic.
