Paul Van Hoeydonck, a prolific Belgian artist known for his 'Fallen Astronaut' sculpture, has died at the age of 99. His work, left on the Moon by the Apollo-15 crew in 1971, was considered the first work of art on the Moon, honoring astronauts who died on space missions. In February 2024, his sculpture will be complemented by 125 mini-sculptures by artist Jeff Koons.
