Several hundred pupils and students gathered in Victory Square to protest against the government's plans to cut the number of scholarships. The young people, carrying placards with messages emphasizing the importance of the scholarships, marched towards the Executive. Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan said that a scholarship package was being prepared, noting that the current €1 billion spending on scholarships needed to be reconfigured. He stressed that although scholarships have increased significantly in recent years, a review of their effectiveness is needed.
