Nvidia has informed major customers in China, such as Alibaba, ByteDance and Tencent, that it is working to adapt the design of its artificial intelligence chips so that they can be commercialized without violating US export restrictions. The company has begun redesigning chips to meet the limits of US regulations, previously estimating $5.5 billion in losses due to those restrictions. Samples of the new chips could be available from June, and Nvidia is also developing a customized version of the 'Blackwell' chip for the Chinese market.
