UEFA representatives announced that FC Barcelona's complaint against Romanian referee Istvan Kovacs has been dismissed. The incident occurred during the quarter-final match of the Champions League, in which Atletico Madrid defeated Barcelona 2-0.
The Catalans accused Kovacs' officiating, particularly a moment when Atletico defender, Marc Pubill, handled the ball, believing it should have resulted in a penalty. The match officials decided that Pubill acted to place the ball before the restart. The complaint was deemed 'inadmissible' by UEFA's Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Committee. The return match between the two teams is scheduled for April 14.
