Tommy Paul, an American tennis player ranked 21st in the ATP, won the ATP 250 tournament in Houston, Texas, with a total prize money of $700,045, after an intense final in which he defeated the Argentine Roman Burruchaga 6-1, 3-6, 7-5. Burruchaga, in his first final on the ATP circuit, had the chance to close the match, missing three match points on his opponent's serve in the deciding set, at 5-4. Tommy Paul, at the age of 28, managed to regain control and thus secure his fifth ATP title, being the first on clay, after previous victories on hard and grass. Due to this victory, Paul will rise to 18th place in the ATP rankings, while Burruchaga will advance to 62nd place in the new rankings on Monday.
