Zampolli discussed this suggestion with FIFA President Gianni Infantino, emphasizing that Italy, with its four World Cup titles, deserves to participate. Although Iran has stated that it is ready to participate, its situation remains uncertain due to safety issues related to conflicts in the Middle East. Infantino stated that the Iranian team must participate, considering that they have qualified. Zampolli's proposal could also help repair relations between Trump and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, following recent tensions. Italy has missed qualification for the last three World Cups, which led to the resignation of the leadership of the national football federation.
